Nyle DiMarco is an an American model, actor, deaf activist and winner of America's Next Top Model in season 22. He was born in Queens, New York and graduated from Gallavdet University. He has two brothers. Chella Man is an American actor, model, artist, YouTuber, and LGBTQ activist. He is known for sharing his experiences as a transgender, deaf, genderqueer, and Jewish person of color. He rose to wider prominence in 2019 for portraying mute superhero Jericho in the second season of the DC Universe series Titans.
The main purpose of this mentor text was to inform and bring awareness to both those who have disabilities and those who do not. The main theme that resonates is the idea that common things that we overlook in our everyday lives should be accessible to anyone and everyone who wants to enjoy, but quite unfortunately, as seen in these two men, this is not the case. Those who do not possess a disability do not experience the same frustration, exclusion, and obstacles that those who possess a disability do. The video conveys a sense of empathy and inclusion, but one of the aspects that stood out to me was that it did not seem biased or created for the sake of attention. Even after their horrific experience, they did not take out their emotions on the actions of those who were unaware or overlooked their disabilities. They simply wanted to spread a message, and I personally believe that they couldn't have done it in more calm and collected manner than they did. In this video, the speaker is the author portraying a real-life experience and opening up. about the types of struggles that people with certain limitations must experience sometimes daily. Ultimately, more people should be more informed and considerate of things that they take advantage of and take into consideration the things that might hinder them from enjoying that are overlooked my the popular majority.
